We needed to turn off all the regular lights so it could be seen on a wall more than say 8-10 feet away and even then it wasn't that apparent. But for a toy at a kids party it's fine. He loves the set, and even want to get one for his best friend's birthday! His older cousins also enjoy the set and play with it when they are visiting.
